Tie dye

We decided that our comfy chairs were in need of a makeover so Mrs Thompson and Mrs Muir scoured the charity shops for material that we could tie dye and use for covers. They found some cotton curtains that were ideal for the job.
We used marbles and elastic bands to make the tie dye patterns on the cloth. It was quite hard to wind the bands round tight enough!
The next task was mixing the dye with water and salt and leaving it to soak overnight.
and rinsed out the next day.

Then it was hung out to dry before we had the hard task of removing the bands and marbles!

We couldn't resist hiding under it when we finished!
Our last job was ironing the cloth before we gave it Mrs Muir to sew into covers.
